This large detached property is set at an angle on an elongated plot, overlooking the woodlands to the rear.
The existing house is of an Edwardian architectural style, with similar properties surrounding it.
Client's brief for the project was very simple - to extend the house meeting it's owners growing family needs, while maximising it's development potential.
At first it felt that the house would benefit from more symmetry to front elevation. Although it looked great, as it often happens symmetry can add too many constraint to your architectural project, and in this case it offered too little usable floor area gain to justify the added cost.
The final design has taken an alternative approach, where the existing full height bay is embraced and visually linked with the proposed front canopy and garage, creating a contemporary front with an elegant Art Deco feel.
The project also features rear first floor master suite extension, ground floor contemporary conservatory as well as side garage and utility area.
